EPHRATA, Washington — A Moses Lake teen who shot his parents because he was angry at being grounded was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison.

Nathon Brooks was 14 when he shot his parents as they slept in 2013 at their home. Both survived.

The website iFIBER One News reports (http://bit.ly/1LIHaCq ) the 16-year-old pleaded guilty in Grant County Superior Court to assault charges.

Court records say he was upset at having his electronic devices taken away as punishment for being late to school.

The boy's father, Jonathon Brooks, spoke at the sentencing and said, "We just wanted the court to know, we do very much love our son."
