Strong storms knock out power to thousands in Connecticut

HARTFORD, Connecticut — A band of strong thunderstorms has caused some headaches for morning commuters and knocked out power to several thousand people.

Eversource says about 4,000 of its customers in Connecticut remained without power at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, more than 2,000 of those were in Ridgefield.

State police were responding to several accidents and reports of wires down.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for Litchfield, Fairfield and New Haven counties until noon.
