WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut — Authorities are investigating after a decomposing body was found outside a restaurant in West Hartford.

Police were called to the Red Robin restaurant at the Corbins Corner shopping center around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on reports of a deceased person in a red Honda Civic with Georgia plates.

Officials say the car was surrounded by flies and described the body as "really decomposed."

It's unclear how long the body has been in the car but police believe the person might be linked to a missing persons case out of Farmington.

The state Medical Examiner's Office has scheduled an autopsy for Monday. Authorities say the discovery remains under investigation.
