UNCASVILLE, Connecticut — Leilani Mitchell hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Phoenix Mercury an 81-80 victory over Connecticut on Thursday night, extending the Sun's losing streak to six games.

Monique Currie's 3-pointer with 2:47 remaining gave Phoenix its first lead of the second half at 73-72. After five straight points by Connecticut, Brittney Griner made a layup and DeWanna Bonner hit a deep 3-pointer for a 78-77 lead. Jasmine Thomas answered with a jumper with 9.6 seconds left and, after a Phoenix offensive foul, she hit 1 of 2 free throws with 4.8 left for an 80-78 lead.
