MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — A West Virginia University graduate has donated $1 million to establish scholarships for in-state undergraduate students enrolled in science, technology, engineering or math programs.
The Morgantown school says the John A. Forman Endowed Scholarship will be available for students studying in the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, and Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources.
Officials say Forman hopes students will have to the ability to achieve their educational goals with the help of the scholarships.
The Clarksburg native earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from WVU in 1956 and had an engineering career that spanned more than 30 years.
The gift was made in conjunction with the WVU Foundation's $750 million fundraising effort that runs through December 2015.
