JACKSONVILLE, Florida — A 14-year-old boy is being treated at a hospital after his friend shot him in the lower torso as the two played with a rifle.
Jacksonville Sheriff's officials say the shooting happened Monday afternoon at the teen's apartment.
The teen initially told officers he was shot in a drive-by shooting.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1DQfb30 ) reports an investigation later revealed the shooting happened while the boys were playing with the rifle. Officials say the boys came clean after being confronted with the evidence.
Police are trying to find out where the boys got the rifle, which didn't appear to belong to the family.
