HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pennsylvania — A man has been sentenced to nine to 18 years in prison on firearms counts in connection with events at a central Pennsylvania nightclub on Halloween in 2013 that killed a man.

The (Altoona) Mirror ( ) reports that 25-year-old Brandon Midder of Altoona had sought to withdraw the guilty pleas, but on Friday he asked that the pleas be reinstated.

Midder still faces allegations that he assaulted 24-year-old Willie Solomon, who was shot to death at Choices Nightclub in Altoona. Twenty-one-year-old Hugo Baez was sentenced to 30 to 60 years in the slaying.

Defense attorney Douglas Keating emphasized that Baez committed the slaying, and his client committed two robberies at age 15, neither involving a gun, but had no other serious run-ins with the law over the past decade.
