SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — Shreveport police are investigating the stabbing death of a teenager, and a suspect is in custody.

Officer Marcus Hines says the stabbing happened late Monday night in the 1700 block of Yale Ave.

Hines say 15-year-old Willie Latin III was stabbed at least once in the upper body following an alleged verbal and subsequent physical altercation with a family member. Latin was taken to University Health Shreveport, where he died a short time later.

Fifty-two-year-old Edward Debrow has been booked into the city jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

He is awaiting transfer to the Caddo Correctional Center.
