BROOKHAVEN, Mississippi — A Brookhaven man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in a fatal Christmas Eve shooting.

The Brookhaven Daily Leader reports (http://bit.ly/1dp5dNe ) Yaquilla Washington entered the plea Thursday in Lincon County Circuit Court.ln y, the man involved in the Dec. 24, 2014, death of Demetrius Wilson, pleaded not guilty to all

Washington was indicted in March for one count of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say the two men exchanged words while Wilson was still in his vehicle. Wilson and his girlfriend then drove to a different house to drop off some Christmas gifts, and at some point when she returned to the car, she and other witnesses told police they saw Washington shoot Wilson.
