BARRE, Vermont — Hunters will learn if they've won a permit to try to get a moose in Vermont this fall.

The state's Fish & Wildlife Department is drawing 225 winners from the moose permit lottery on Thursday.

The drawing takes place at the Barre Fish & Game Club at 10 a.m. The names will be read on the radio on Froggy 100.9 and the drawing will be streamed live online at froggy1009.com.

The permits include five set aside for military veterans of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and 40 for hunting during archery season.

Winners will get a packet in the mail with time-sensitive information that must be returned to the Fish and Wildlife Department by a certain date or the winning lottery permit will be forfeited.
