BILOXI, Mississippi — Officials have held the ceremonial topping out at MGM Park signified construction of the $36 million stadium has reached its highest point.
The topping out comes just days before the team will be named on Monday.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1yp8mAY ) Mayor A.J. Holloway left council workshop Tuesday to sign the steel beam before it was hoisted, along with an American flag and a traditional evergreen tree, to the steel frame at the baseball park. The stadium site is on U.S. 90, north of the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino.
The stadium structure is being precast off-site and will be delivered ready.
Jason Wold of Yates Construction Co. says construction is on schedule and cold weather is not expected to delay the project.
