Price of gas falls to $2.25 a gallon on average in Rhode Island, continuing drop


PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — The price of gas is continuing to drop in Rhode Island, falling to an average $2.25 per gallon, the lowest price since February.

That's according to AAA Northeast, which says in its weekly survey released Monday that the average price fell five cents per gallon since last week.

Gas prices in Rhode Island are averaging four cents less than the national average of $2.29 per gallon.

A year ago at this time, gas in Rhode Island was averaging $3.43 per gallon, or 52 percent higher.
