PARAMUS, New Jersey — A New Jersey professor suspended over an online photo containing a quote from "Game of Thrones" has had his punishment rescinded by the college.

A Bergen County Community College official told Francis Schmidt in a letter last month that the punishment might've violated his constitutional rights.

Schmidt was suspended for 11 days in January after posting a picture on Google Plus of his daughter wearing a shirt with the phrase from the graphic HBO show that read "I will take what is mine with fire and blood."

The college's director of human resources says in the letter that his punishment was rescinded and it was being removed from his file.

College spokesman Larry Hlavenka Jr. says the compromise definitively closes the matter and treats it as though it never occurred.
