Firefighters find body in burning car in Randolph County; name and cause of death not known

FRANKLINVILLE, North Carolina — Randolph County deputies are investigating after a body was found inside a burning car.

Authorities told local media outlets that a neighbor reported the fire near a cleared out section of land in Franklinville by power lines around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived, they found a body in the driver's seat of the car and called deputies.

Investigators are trying to determine the name of the victim and how that person died. The body has been sent to Raleigh for an autopsy.
