You just got the news: You've lost your job. What do you do now?

The advice is the same across the board, from bank presidents to local charity leaders, take action now. Don't wait, don't let shame or embarrassment hold you back, and don't bury your head and wish it would go away.

"Don't sit back and think you're too ashamed to go out and get that help because doors will open when you go out and get those things on your own," said Thom Hord, who leads The Refuge in Greenwood, a food pantry and social service agency.
