Mark A. York, 46, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, at home in Fishers.

He was born Sept. 9, 1965, in Beech Grove to James “Willie” York and Patricia Mae Wilson York. He met Lisa M. Hullinger, formerly of Kokomo, in October 1987; and they married Oct. 8, 1994, in a beautiful ceremony in Brown County. They were blessed to have received guardianship of his niece, Emily, in 2008.

Mark was a machinist at Ikelite Underwater Systems in Indianapolis for nearly 13 years. Previously, he worked at L & E Engineering and Mitchel & Scott.

He was a graduate of Center Grove High School.

His interests included scuba diving, fishing, traveling, swimming, bluegrass festivals, working on challenging house and yard projects, and serving as the “grill master.”

He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and never missed watching a game from his “man cave.” He also was a fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed race parties with friends.

He was proudest of serving as a father figure to his niece and being a loving husband and best friend to his wife.

Mark also took great pride in his work, both at home and at Ikelite. He shared a unique camaraderie with his co-workers, as well as his strong work ethic.

He touched everyone he met with his positive, fun attitude toward life and work. Mark would be the first to offer to help a family member, friend or neighbor, but his greatest gift was making others laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Hullinger York, and his niece, Emily York, both of Fishers; a sister, Teri (Terrell) Gibson of Greenfield; half sisters, Joyce Cook and Diane (Bruce) Patton, both of Pall Mall, Tenn.; half brother, Mike (Brenda) York of Pall Mall, Tenn.; parents-in-law, Robert and Rita Hullinger of Kokomo; brother-in-law, Scott (Julie) Hullinger of Westfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James “Sonny” York and Danny York; and grandparents, Rhea and Ruthie Wilson and Robert and Annie York. He also was preceded in death by Lisa’s grandparents, Kenneth and Charlotte Wiles, whom Mark considered to be his grandparents, as well.

A funeral Mass celebrating Mark’s life will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kokomo. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers.

Memorial contributions may be made to The York Scholarship Fund at any Indiana Members Credit Union.
