Steven J. “Boog” Powell, 55, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland.
Steven was born March 5, 1957, in Lansing, Mich., to Wayne and Yvonne (Rogers) Powell. He graduated from Maple Valley High School. He was a truck driver for 24 years for S&H Transportation in Greenwood.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer and trout camp. He was a Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts fan.
Survivors include his mother, Yvonne Powell of Harrison, Mich.; two sons, Zachary and Anthony Powell, both of New Whiteland; a daughter, Katy Hagen of Whiteland; two sisters, Cheryl Monteverde of Tucson, Ariz., and Shelby Rouleau of Harrison, Mich.; and three brothers, David (Janice) Powell of Mulliken, Mich., Brent (Karen) Powell of South Carolina and Kevin (Elizabeth) Powell of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Powell; and grandparents, Kenneth and Beulah Powell and Clifford and Ada Rogers.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jessen Funeral Home Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Hayes Township Cemetery in Harrison, Mich.
