 Naomi M. ”JoAnn” (Davis) Reed |
Naomi M. ”JoAnn” (Davis) Reed, age 88, passed away Friday afternoon, June 22, 2012, at the Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin. She was a resident of Bargersville.
Naomi was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Metropolis, Ill., to the late Charles Frederick and Miley (Walters) Davis. She married Emil Reed on Jan. 1, 1944, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1977, after 33 devoted years.
Naomi was a loving wife and homemaker. She was a 48-year member of Fair Haven Christian Church in Franklin and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Naomi was a collector of angels, an avid reader and a great cook and baker for her family. She was known for her cookies and homemade yeast rolls that were baked in a wood stove while her children were growing up at home.
Naomi is survived by her loving children, Teresa (husband, Donald) Hickman of Martinsville, James (wife, Shirley) Reed and Clifford (wife, Joyce) Reed, both of Morgantown, Linda (husband, Asa) LaFary of Bargersville, Michael Reed and Jason (wife, Nicole) Reed, both of Greenfield. She will be remembered by her 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Naomi was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Roy and Myrtle Barrett; daughter, Sylvia Schultz and a granddaughter, Lisa Hickman.
The Rev. Jeff Johnson will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fair Haven Christian Church, 1476 W. County Road 300S, Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at London Cemetery in Shelby County.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
