Janice K. Deputy Kelly, 79, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
Jan was born in 1935 to James E. and Helen Jeanette (Jones) Deputy.
She married Robert L. Kelly, who preceded her in passing in January 1990.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Joan Barnett; two brothers, Joseph Gilford (Linda) Deputy and James Craig (Diana) Deputy; stepdaughter, Teri (William) Pressley; brothers-in-law, Phil (Marlene) Kelly and Thomas (Joyce) Kelly; sister-in-law, Sandra (William, deceased) Kelly; a host of nieces and nephews; and longtime companion and his granddaughter, Raymond Spratt and Beverly Altmeyer.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband; and a stepdaughter, Kim Kelly.
She was a 1953 graduate of Franklin High School and attended Franklin College.
Jan was employed by Eli Lilly and Co., retiring after many years of service.
Her interests included bowling, tennis and riverboat junkets, and she was a fan of mysteries. She enjoyed watching tennis.
Her quick, quiet wit endeared her to friends and neighbors alike. She gave generously to charities.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin, with the Rev. Homer Ford officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
