John Francis McLaughlin Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014.
Son of John F. and Bernece (Wilt) McLaughlin, John was born in Vincennes on Oct. 12, 1929. He spent most of his life in the Indianapolis area. Dr. McLaughlin served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He graduated from the IU School of Dentistry in 1961 and practiced dentistry on the southside of Indianapolis for 45 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Indianapolis Dental Society, Indiana Dental Association and American Dental Association. Dr. McLaughlin enjoyed his work, especially the interaction with his patients, and greatly missed both after retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Leonora Adam McLaughlin; a son, Kai McLaughlin; two daughters, Julie Pouch (Jacob) and Jill Hammersley (Nick); six grandchildren, Kelly Owen, Shauna McLaughlin, Grayson and Spencer Hammersley, Chloe and Sydney Pouch; and one great-granddaughter, Regan Owen.
In addition to his parents; a brother, Thomas; and sister, Mary Williams, preceded him in death.
A private celebration of life with family and close friends is planned.
