Larry Dale Walker, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, with his family at his side.
He was born Feb. 11, 1943, to Raymond Dale and Thelma (Rhude) Walker.
Larry was a graduate of Franklin High School with the class of 1961. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He served with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One) and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received on April 11, 1966.
He married the former Connie Greathouse on Aug. 7, 1970; and she preceded him in death Sept. 24, 2002.
Larry was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Eagles.
Larry is survived by his mother, Thelma Hartsel; a son, Aaron, and wife, Alix Walker; and a grandchild, Kensley Walker.
He also was preceded in death by his father; and brothers, Jerry Walker and William Hartsel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment with full military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
