Larry Gordon Robinson
Larry Gordon Robinson, of Greenwood, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at the age of 80.
Born on July 14, 1934, in Crawfordsville to Gladys and Karl Robinson, Larry graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1952 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959.
He worked at General Motors Allison Transmission plant for 28 years, retiring in 1993. Always a hard worker, Larry went on to work at J.C. Penney. He also proudly served on White River Township Fire Department for two decades and attained the rank of fire chief.
Larry’s most important role by far was as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Larry’s memory lives on through his wife, Maxine; children, Tim (Kim) and Pam (Steve); grandchildren, Tiffany, Laura (Kyle), Katrina, Evan and Cole; great-grandchildren, Gavynn and Beckham; two sisters-in-law, Ann and Donna; and his church family at Smith Valley Baptist Church.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Roy Zachary; and two brothers, Jim and Dick.
A viewing will be held to celebrate his life from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Valley Baptist Church, 4682 W. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Smith Valley Baptist Church, in care of the funeral home.
