Marilynn R. Bay
 

Marilynn R. Bay, 86, of Whiteland passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at Franciscan St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born Dec. 20, 1927 in Fruitdale, to Charles and Ruth (Boren) Barnes. She married William L. Bay Sr. on March 23, 1957, he preceded her in death in 1981.

She retired in 1989 after more than 39 years of service for the Social Security Administration Office in Indianapolis as a service representative. She previously had been a secretary at Camp Atterbury in Johnson County. She also had farmed with her husband and family in the Whiteland area for many years. She was a member of the Nation Association of Retired Federal Employees.

She enjoyed working puzzles, watching high school basketball and Indiana University basketball, gardening, and canning. She especially enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, William L. Bay Jr. (Alicia J.) of Whiteland; three grandchildren, William L. Bay III (Jessica) of Whiteland, Brandon M. Bay of Whiteland, and Alison D. Stewart (Evan) of Whiteland; five great grandchildren, Skylar Stewart, Alaina Stewart, Braxton Stewart, Riley Bay, and Bryson Bay, brother Ronald A. Barnes (Betty) of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Carol Jordan of Greensburg, and three step grandchildren Carrie Selke, Jamie Meadows, and Michael Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Marjorie Maxine Maxwell, and a brother, Charles Richard Barnes.

A service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
