Ruth Louise Schnell
Ruth Louise Schnell, 90, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.
She was born on May 15, 1924, in Indianapolis, to the late Henry and Henrietta (Schmidt) Weiland.
She was a lifetime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She served in many ways at her beloved church and volunteered at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.
She retired after 25 years from Perry Township schools.
Survivors include children, Lee (Marji) Schnell, Jean (Lynn) Wehner, Margie Potter and Luann (Art) Miner; eight grandchildren, Eric, Luke, Lara, Jennifer, David, Amanda, Adam and Aaron; nine great-grandchildren; cousin, Marguerite Nierman; beloved nieces and nephews; and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene F. Schnell; and siblings, Louis Weiland, Elizabeth Dampier, Henrietta Vehling, Ella Heckman and Louise Hagenmeier.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 7031 S. East St., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Southport.
Arrangements were entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135 at Olive Branch Road.
