Dr. Charles W. Link Jr.

Dr. Charles William Link Jr., 80, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014.

He was born Sept. 10, 1933, in Rockport, to Charles William Link Sr. and Norma (Franzman) Link, who predecease him.

Charles met his wife, Linda Zopf, on a blind date while she was studying to be a nurse and he was studying to be a doctor. Charles and Linda married Aug. 11, 1957. After he graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1960, he and childhood friend Dr. Joseph Young opened a family medical practice in Greenwood.

Charles and Joe both had the good fortune of marrying registered nurses, whom they enlisted to be their only staff in the beginning of the practice. Charles and Linda and Joe and Betty were close friends for the remainder of their lives. Later, Dr. Charles Richert joined the practice and continues it today.

Charles loved his family. While he was a great father to his three children, his true calling was being a grandfather. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and proudly attended countless sports and music events. He leaves many happy memories.

He was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. He was a loyal friend, an avid gardener and a history buff and loved to travel.

He was preceded in death by his lovely and beloved wife, Linda F. Link; and a grandson, Nicholas Pinnow.
