Betty Jo Wise
Betty Jo (Prince) Wise, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Altenheim Community in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.
Betty was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Concord, Tennessee, to the late Joseph Lee and Dora (Scarborough) Prince.
She married Walter G. “Buckshot” Wise on Dec. 31, 1950, in Indiana. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2006, after 56 devoted years of marriage.
Betty was co-founder of Wise Corp. in Indianapolis from 1960 until 1992. She and her husband built their business with a strong foundation in helping others. She had a great love for her personal and church families.
Betty enjoyed arranging flowers, traveling, quilting, making stained glass art and reading books of all kinds, especially biographies. Her friends recall her as a woman who enjoyed the challenge to achieve.
Betty was a member and strong supporter of Morgantown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending the church’s ladies luncheon group. She was a former member of Center United Methodist Church on Bluff Road and Honey Creek United Methodist Church in Greenwood.
Betty is survived by one daughter, Toni (Wise), and her husband, Eric Eggleton, of Indianapolis; a brother, David Prince of New Palestine; sisters, Dora Jean Clark of Indianapolis and Viola Mae “Dottie” Johnson of Cape Coral, Florida; a half sister, Anna Beavers of Brown County; and two grandchildren, Alexander Wise Eggleton of Baltimore and Matthew Walter Martyn of North Carolina.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; a daughter, Lea Ann Wise Martyn; a sister, Bernice Crawford; and two brothers, Joe Prince and Cecil Prince.
The Rev. Jill Howard will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Morgantown United Methodist Church, 20 E. Washington St., Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St., Morgantown, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
