Rev. Gerald ‘Gordon’ Taylor

The Rev. Gerald “Gordon” Taylor, 84, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Roudebush Veterans Affairs Hospital in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin.

He was born March 2, 1930, in Norwood, Ohio, to James Oathel and Lola Myrtle (Bullock) Taylor.

He married Lois L. Jewell Taylor on Feb. 4, 1955. She lovingly survives in Franklin.

He also is survived by three daughters, Rose (David) Hoag-lan, Beverly “B.J.” Taylor and Brenda Brickert; four grandchildren, Sherrie Murphy, Timothy G. (Tiffany) Brickert, Rhiannon (Kevin) Pimentell and Travis G. (Jamie) Brickert; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren, William Murphy, Logan Brickert, Dakota Brickert, Brayden Hartle and Ava Pimentell; and two sisters, Bethelene (Gordon) Eads and Fayrene Richhart.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; a brother; Daryl Taylor; and a grandson, Thomas G. Brickert.

Gordon was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was employed in roofing.

He was an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of Franklin Church of the Nazarene and the local roofers union.

Gordon enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and gardening.

The Rev. Max Downs will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Franklin Church of the Nazarene, 140 W. Branigin Road, Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, with military honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and Greenwood American Legion Honor Guard.
