Agnes Lucille Smith

Agnes Lucille (Cooling) Smith, 99, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her residence.

She was born Feb. 26, 1915 in Dallas, Texas to William Lloyd and Pearl W. (Williamson) Cooling. Agnes moved to Indianapolis from Bowling Green, Missouri in 1932.

She married Dr. Harry E. Smith on Oct. 20, 1940, at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death in March 1979.

Agnes was retired from Indiana Insurance Co. and Cooling-Grumme-Mumford Insurance Co. after 19 years as a bond clerk.

She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Indianapolis and was a member of Wallace Street Evangelical (formerly Presbyterian) Church in Indianapolis, Irvington Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star

No. 364, Social Order of Beauseant and Ladies Oriental Shrine.

Survivors include her children, Richard D. Smith (Becky) of Fortville, Kathy Howell (Malcom) of Indianapolis, Beverly G. Jaskiewicz (Chuck, deceased) of Martinsville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Smith of Westfield; a sister, Adelyn Polevoy of Salt Lake City, Utah; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Stephen C. Smith; and a brother, Monroe Cooling.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the mortuary.
