Carolyn Ann Vest
Carolyn Ann (Smith) Vest, 78, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014.
She was born Dec. 9, 1935, in Indianapolis to the late Paul and Otha Lillian (Cox) Smith. She graduated from Manual High School in 1954. Carolyn married Theodore C. “Ted” Vest on May 12, 1956; and he survives. She was a homemaker and raised four children. Carolyn was active in church and school organizations. She also worked for Graham Electronics/Bell Industries for 20 years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
Other survivors include sons, Mark Alan (Kathy) Vest of Prince’s Lakes and Matthew Charles (Susan) Vest of Plainfield; daughters, Kathryn Sue (Gary) Morgan and Karen Sue Vest, both of Greenwood; grandchildren, Matthew C. (Claire) Vest, Bradley C. (Megan) Vest, Hillary A. Morgan, Connor M. Vest and Mihaela V. Morgan; great-grandchildren, Taylor A. Vest and Matthew C. Vest Jr.; brother, Richard Paul Smith of Indianapolis; and sister, Jean Elizabeth Kidwell of Indianapolis.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Ellis “Butch” Smith.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 7031 S. East St., Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St., and from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
