Betty Jo Phillips
Betty Jo Phillips, 83, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Hearth at Stones Crossing.
She was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Indianapolis to Frank Boyd and Monnie (Robinette) Hall. She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, with the class of 1949.
Betty Jo was a professional dog breeder, handler and member of the American Boxer Club. She was the former editor of the Boxer Shorts newsletter. One of her champion dogs won its class at the Westminster Kennel Club competition. She was an avid Colts fan and loved to travel.
Betty Jo is survived by her son, Dale (Rebecca Duvall) Young; grandchildren, Michelle (Clyde) Judkins-Bailey, Dale Ryan (Amanda Custer) Young, Tania Jean Osborne, Fara Raymer-Daugherty and Tara Raymer-Swickard; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Phillips; and a grandson, Scott May.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Johnson County or the American Kidney Fund.
