Rita Faye Robbins, 63, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born on April 16, 1951, in Sullivan to Nelson and Hazel (Bedwell) Robbins.
Survivors include her partner, Barbara Camden of Franklin; sister, Janice Spilker of Greenwood; brothers, Danny Butler of Indianapolis and Gene Robbins of Virginia; nine nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Melanie Wells.
She was preceded in passing by her parents and a brother, Bob Robbins.
Rita was a graduate of Howe High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Indianapolis and her master’s degree from IUPUI.
She was a schoolteacher with the Center Grove Community School Corp. She taught accounting and computer programing, retiring in the early 2000s. She was the coach for the 1986 girls state softball championship team.
Rita enjoyed fishing and boating, the outdoors, playing cards and board games. She also enjoyed woodworking.
A celebration of Rita’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Franklin.
