Sandra K. ‘Sandy’ Akers
Sandra K. “Sandy” (Edwards) Akers, 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. She was a resident of Brown County.
Sandy was born in Indianapolis on Dec. 17, 1940, to her parents, the late George Lee and Dorothy Helen (Wood) Edwards.
She was a 1959 graduate of Whiteland High School and went on to marry Donald Denton Bullock in March 1961. He preceded her in death in February 1966.
Sandy was a familiar face at Whitaker Chevrolet in Morgantown, where she worked as the parts manager from 1976 until she retired in 2002. After retirement, Sandy enjoyed working for her sons as the bookkeeper for Bullock Mechanical Contractors in Brown County.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Bullock and James (Jodi) Bullock, both of Brown County; grandchildren, Aaron, Brandi and Evan Bullock, all of Brown County, and Sarah Trautwein of Indianapolis; and a brother, James Lee (Carolyn) Edwards of Greenfield.
She enjoyed traveling with her sons to Canada on fishing trips, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events and spending time with her dog, Ruby.
Pastor Jim Ackerman will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
