Susan Lynette Crockett
Susan Lynette Crockett, 56, passed away at her residence in Franklin on Monday, June 16, 2014.
Susan was born Sept. 1, 1957, in Franklin, to David T. Crockett and Dorothy Alice Crockett.
Susan was married to Edward “Leo” Lynn in 1973 in Franklin. They were married for six years and had two children, April Michelle and Edward “Eddie” Leo II.
Susan also had been married twice after to Michael Percifield of Edinburgh and Keith Bowen of Indianapolis. No children from either marriage.
Susan was a member of Job’s Daughters and the Franklin Dolphinettes.
She was an LPN who suffered a work-related injury; however, she always kept her license current with the expectation that she would be able to return to the nursing field one day.
Susan enjoyed life to the fullest and lived her life her way. She had a huge heart and loved taking care of others. She was a passionate nurse and very proud to follow her sisters into the field of nursing.
Susan also enjoyed being out with friends dancing, singing and smiling. She also loved boating, swimming, fishing, mushrooming and her animals. For years she worked as a breeder and trained German shepherds. In her final years she had adopted two little dogs, Charlie and Tiny.
She is survived by her fiancé, Roger L. Lewis; mother, Dorothy Alice, and stepfather, Waldon “Higg” Higginbotham; two children, April M. Adams (Lance) of Franklin and Edward L. “Eddie” Lynn II (Crissy) of Trafalgar; four sisters, Linda Hutchinson (Bernie) of Indianapolis, Beverly Layman (Kip) of Nineveh, Donna Clark (Bobby) of Franklin and Stephanie Lloyd (Mark) of Martinsville; stepbrothers, David Higginbotham (Liz) of Greenwood, and Bobby Higginbotham, Jimmy Higginbotham (Sandy) and Denny Higginbotham (Michelle), all of Franklin; stepsisters, Terry Mink (Perry) of Franklin and Lenny Purcell of Camby; nine grandchildren, Ashely, Brock, Kylee, Christopher, Bryce, Tyler (TJ), Cameron, Chaise and Kaleigh; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Bowen; her grandmother, Lillian McIntire-Capplinger; and grandparents Wilford “Bus” and Reba Skeel.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at April and Lance’s home, 3366 E. County Road 150S, Franklin. Please join the family in sharing stories, photos and great memories of Susan’s “one of a kind” life. Flowers and cards are welcomed at the celebration.
