Johnie W. Burdsall
Johnie W. Burdsall, 83, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Bargersville.
He was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Amo, to Wayne and Mariam (Williamson) Burdsall.
He married Mildred (Hash) Burdsall on Feb. 2, 1955. She preceded him in passing on March 29, 1997.
Johnie is survived by one daughter, Diana (Mike) Porterfield of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Kia) Rushton, Tiffany Rushton, Jessica Scalf, Samatha (Allen) Weaver and Chase Porterfield; five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Malia, Avery, Reece and Brantley; and three sisters, Roselyn “Rosie” (Jeff) Wise of Bargersville, Carolyn Carey of Franklin and Linda (Steve) Wilkerson of Missouri.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; his wife, Mildred; an infant daughter, Melissa; and a sister, Mary Alice Carter.
He attended school in Franklin and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.
Johnie was a police officer and firefighter in Franklin. He later was a car salesman with Bradley Chevrolet in Franklin, retiring after several years
Johnie was an avid IU basketball fan.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
