Michael Joseph ‘Micky’ Chadbourne

Michael Joseph “Micky” Chadbourne, 16, of Franklin, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, from injuries sustained while trying to rescue a friend from drowning.

Micky is remembered by thousands of people as a hero. Among his friends and family he is remembered for his gentle nature, quick wit and huge heart.

Micky was an upcoming senior at Franklin Community High School. He was a standout football player and a member of the track team. He loved spending time with his many good friends, especially his girlfriend, Kelsey Adkins. He loved visiting his huge extended family and friends in Maine for vacations, big pasta dinners, trips to the ocean and annual summer camps.

Micky would give anything to anyone. As his final gift, he donated his organs to the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization so that others may live.

Micky is survived by his parents, Christina and Josh Roberson and Michael Chadbourne; siblings, Simon, Nora and Lucas, all of Franklin; grandparents, Tony and Darlene Napolitano and Bonnie and Clinton Chadbourne, both of Portland, Maine, Carla Hendershot of Franklin and Keith Roberson of Tennessee; great-grandparents, John and Linda McGovern of Portland, Maine, and Robert Roberson of Tennessee; uncles and aunts, Tony and Jen Napolitano of South Portland, Maine, Nick and Amanda Napolitano of Augusta, Maine, Joe and Stephanie Napolitano of Westbrook, Maine, Steven Chadbourne of Maine, Jason and Kelly Lamb of Westbrook, Maine, and Mike and Kristina Uhl, Chase and Sam Hendershot, Hunter Hendershot and Maddison Hendershot, all of Franklin.

He also is survived by many loving cousins and relatives.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the Franklin Community High School gymnasium, 2800 Cumberland Drive. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time today at the high school. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 114 Lancelot Drive, Franklin.

After services in Franklin, Micky will return to Maine for a celebration of life.
