Retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Christopher VanSlyke died Sunday, June 1, 2014.
He was a resident of Bellevue, Nebraska, and a former resident of Franklin.
He was born Jan. 15, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, Myrena; his mother, Noreen C. VanSlyke of Indianapolis; two children, Sarah and husband Brian White of Omaha, Nebraska, and Bryan VanSlyke of Papillion, Nebraska; a sister, Elaine and husband Rob Williams of Lebanon; two brothers, Steve and wife Teresa VanSlyke of Indianapolis and Rick and wife Windy VanSlyke of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Honey; and father, William E. VanSlyke.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bellevue Memorial Chapel, 2202 Hancock St. in Bellevue, Nebraska, with a vigil at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.Tuesday at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 12210 S. 36th St., Bellevue. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery in Bellevue.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
