Kenneth Eugene Hughes
Kenneth Eugene Hughes, 92, of Greenwood, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014.
He was born Dec., 6 1921, in Olathe, Kan., to the late Conrad and Helen (Buck) Hughes.
He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was active in the Indianapolis Public School system for 35 years as a coach, teacher and administrator.
Kenneth was a proud World War II veteran.
He was a life member of the Masons and also a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Fred) DeVries and Carol (Ron) Anglea; grandchildren, Erick (Melissa) DeVries, Amy (Jamie) Woosley, Heather (Ben) Maples, Michelle Salmon and Crystal (Jim) Morse; a brother, Richard Hughes; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years of marriage, Martha Jane (Stewart) Hughes.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home, 1605 S. State Road 135. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Vernon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The First Tee of Indiana and Veterans of Valor, in care of the funeral home.
