Robert D. “Bob” Hotz died peacefully May 13, 2014, at the Hospice Legacy House in Ocala, Florida.
Bob was born in Brownstown on April 3, 1931, and died at the age of 83.
He graduated from Columbus High School in 1949 and attended Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, where he was on the golf team.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954.
He married the former Maxie Rae Hinds in 1956.
Bob was a plant manager for General Motors Allison Division and retired in 1993. Following retirement, Bob assisted at golf courses in both Franklin and Peachtree City, Georgia.
After moving to Florida, he worked at Office Depot in Ocala and was an active member of First Christian Church of Ocala, where he served as a deacon and trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Maxie, after 58 years of marriage; a son, Mark Hotz of Indianapolis; a daughter, Cindy Armour of San Luis Opispo, California; a grandson, Brandon Amour; a granddaughter, Sheria Hyde, and her husband, Doug; and great-grandchildren, Taja, Kailin and Cooper. He also is survived by one sister, Barbara Harner; a brother, Dick Hotz; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Ocala, 1908 E. Fort King St., Ocala, FL 34471. Burial will be at a later date in Columbus.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala is handling the arrangements.
