Katherine Elizabeth Cooper Ake, 95, died Saturday, May 10, 2014. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
Survivors include nine children, Ruth (Chuck) Mercer, Vicki (Dwayne) Van Meter, Nancy Deem, Julia Butler, Sally (Mike) Fitzgibbons, Carol (Roger) Evans, Debbie (Matt) Kauffman, Joseph (Melahni) Ake and Katy (Tracy) Zirkelbach; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph K. Ake Jr.; a brother, Charles Cooper; one grandson; and her parents, Bendorf and Charlotte Cooper.
A service of celebration will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 U.S. 31 South, Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Francis Hospice or Christ United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
