Alberta C. Carrico
Alberta C. Carrico, of Indianapolis and Holy Name Catholic Church, arrived at her eternal resting place the morning of April 29, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 6, 1924, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School.
During World War II, she worked at Allison Industries, Eli Lilly and Co. and Murphy’s Department Store. Later in life she worked at Roselyn Bakery.
Her entire life was devoted to her large family and charitable activities.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Martin F. Carrico; and siblings, Frank, Leo, Bill and Josephine Baumann.
She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Smithey Epperson (Mike), Mary Hillen (David), Christina Tooley (James) and Margaret “Peg” Carrico; and her sons, William (Ann), Harold (Kathey) and Matthew (Nancy) Carrico. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Shirley Brothers Funeral Home, 3333 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, where a rosary service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1530 Union St., Indianapolis. Father Bob Sims will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 2446 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions in Alberta’s honor may be made to St. Elizabeth Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services, 2500 Churchman Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46203.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, has been entrusted with arrangements.
