Paul R. Owensby

Paul R. Owensby, 70, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his Indianapolis home Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Paul was born July 15, 1943, in Indianapolis. He married Eldia Mae Summers on Aug. 18, 1963; and she preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by two sons, the Rev. Rick (Shannon) Owensby and Brian (Tammy) Owensby; and two grandsons, Zachariah and Garrett.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Wilda Rose Owensby; and a brother, the Rev. Harry E. Owensby.

Paul was employed by Artisan Builders of Martinsville and was a U.S. Army veteran. Along with his wife and sons, Paul created the Owensby Family Gospel Singers Quartet and traveled to many states singing the Gospel.

Paul was a two-term president of the Indiana Gospel Music Association and attended First Separate Baptist Church of Indianapolis. He also enjoyed working and playing bluegrass music.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Separate Baptist Church of Indianapolis, 25 E. Bixler Road, with the Revs. Jimmy Polston and John Anglea officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Little & Sons Funeral Home Stop 11 Chapel, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
