Harvey S. Spurr
Harvey S. Spurr, 78, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, at his residence in Franklin.
Harvey was born May 18, 1935, in Trimble County, Ky., to William H. and Eullah L. (Birch) Spurr.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He married Janice Sue Mize on Sept. 7, 1968, in Greenwood; they were married for 45 years.
Harvey was employed with General Motors Truck and Bus Division on the assembly line. He retired in 1998 after 31 years of service.
He was a member of the UAW Local 23 in Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, picking on his guitar and meeting his buddies Tuesdays at Hardee’s in New Whiteland.
Harvey loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Spurr of Franklin; three children, Christine (Tom) Spragg of Plainfield, Becky (Travis) Nelson of Morgantown and Bill Spurr of Indianapolis; a sister, Savanna Jones of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren, Robbie and Kelsea Spragg and Cash and Kolt Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Della West, Alene Harvey, Sarah Adale Spurr, Mary Lambert, Gladys Aldridge and Velma Keith; and a brother, Pete Spurr.
The Rev. John Young will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation for friends and family will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Harvey’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
