Nila Darlene Paris West
Nila Darlene (Martin) Paris West, 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a resident of Whiteland.
Darlene was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Gosport to James and Mildred (Dittemore) Martin.
She married Jim West on May 6, 1989. He preceded her in passing in October 1999.
She is survived by three children, Beverly (Dave) Henn of Connersville, Ron Paris of Indianapolis and Nancy Kays of Trafalgar; five grandchildren, Lisa (Jake) MacPhee, Diane (Matt) Thomas, Caleb (Casie) Compton, Anthony Kays and Andrew Kays; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Katie and Liam MacPhee and Trevor and Cameron Thomas. Also surviving are her loving siblings, Gay Patterson of Franklin, Joy Perry of New Whiteland, Danny (Nancy) Martin of Franklin and Ray (Darlene) Martin of Bargersville.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, Jim; and a brother, Larry Martin.
Darlene was a graduate of Whiteland High School.
She was employed by Farm Bureau Co-op. She later worked at J.C. Penney, retiring after 30 years. She was a very dedicated employee. Her work ethic was impeccable.
Darlene was a longtime member of Community Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was a member of Beta Sigma sorority. She was a member of the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed playing euchre.
The Rev. Charles Stanley will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Flinn & Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton St. (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Congregational Church, 4592 N. Hurricane Road, Franklin, IN 46131; and/or to the American Cancer Society.
