Dorothy Alice Hill, 95, of Franklin, formerly of Edinburgh and Shelby County, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
She was born June 22, 1918, in Bartholomew County to the late Frank B. and Delphia Mae (Stillabower) Roupp.
She married William O. Hill on Jan. 14, 1945. He died March 6, 1994.
Survivors include her children, David L. Hill of Bloomington, Ill., and Rosalyn (Ron) Pung of Commerce Township, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Roupp of Shelbyville and Betty Roupp of Edinburgh; family friend, Janice Bonning of Bloomington, Ill.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothea Gundrum; and two brothers, George Ranson Roupp and Robert Roupp.
She was a member of the former First Christian Church in Edinburgh.
She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Retirement Association and Shelby County Retired Teachers.
She was a teacher for 23 years in the Shelby County district and for seven years in the Batholomew County district, retiring in 1979.
She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, with the Rev. Kirby Rupp officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Edinburgh Wright-Hageman Public Library, the Edinburgh Food Pantry or the Indiana Masonic Home, in care of the funeral home.
