Obituary: Marcella Jean Galster, Anderson

Marcella Jean Galster, 86, of Anderson, joined her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 19, 2014.

She was born May 30, 1927, to Carl and Emma Kalsow in her beloved hometown of Fargo, N.D. She was the youngest of five sisters and two brothers, including her identical twin sister and best friend, Marvel Flaten.

After graduating high school, Marcella served as the secretary to the president of North Dakota Agriculture College. She later was employed by Montgomery Ward and L.S. Ayres and Co.

Marcella married the love of her life, Eldor Galster, on Oct. 15, 1948, in a Lutheran church in Visalia, Calif., with Pastor George Meiger officiating. After marriage, her husband was employed by Fire-stone and Goodyear; and they traveled to and lived in many cities, including Moorhead, Fergus Falls and Minneapolis, Minn.; Minot and Valley City, N.D.; Seattle; San Francisco; and Indianapolis.

She raised three children, a daughter and two sons.

She loved to sew, a skill that she learned from her mother.

She was musically gifted and loved to play the organ and sing hymns with her family. She

belonged to several Lutheran churches and celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 15, 2013.

She is survived by her husband, Eldor Galster Sr.; a daughter, M. June Harding (Bill); two sons, Richard Galster (Dawn) and Mark Galster (Pam); and her sister, Wanda. She has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all in Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (U.S. 31 South), Indianapolis. Pastor Randall L. Glander of Fort Wayne will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 734 N. Morgantown Road, Greenwood.
