Ennis ‘Sonny’ Mills
Ennis “Sonny” Mills, 87, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of New Palestine, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014.
He was born in Cooper, Texas, to the late Clifford and Ethel Mills (Crews).
On Oct. 22, 1948, Sonny married the love of his life, Goldie Hurst, who preceded him in death in 1998.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, as he proudly served our country.
Sonny retired from DeMoss Tool and Die and was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, Moose Lodge, Elks and the NCO of New Port Richey, Fla.
As he was a very active individual, he truly enjoyed fishing, playing cards, electronic bowling, socializing with friends and, most of all, spending time with his family.
Sonny is survived by his daughter, Diana Goble (Kevin) of Morristown; two sisters, Mava Jo Clark of Fritch, Texas, and Jean Broadstreet of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Barry (April) Mills, Korey Goble and Cassie Goble; three great-grandchildren, Naomi Mills, Rachel Mills and Sawyer Goble-Rogers; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Mills; his parents; and his son, Larry Mills.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hendryx Mortuaries, New Palestine Chapel, 19 E. Main St. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairland Cemetery in Shelby County. Military honors will be presented by the Greenfield Honor Guard.
