Clement Eugene Murphy
Clement Eugene “Gene” Murphy, 78, of Campbellsville, Ky., died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville.
He was born March 2, 1936, in Casey County, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otha “Coy” Murphy; a stepson, Greg Janes; and a brother.
He was a member of Pine Grove Church in Casey County and liked to fish, hunt and spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mings Murphy of Campbellsville; his mother, Claudia Bottoms Murphy of Campbellsville; one son, Phillip Murphy (Tammy) of Nineveh; four daughters, Beth Perez-Martin (Gary) of Austin, Ind., Tammy Coulston of Flat Rock, Jeannie Hornback (Russell Roy) of Upton, Ky., and Lisa Wilburn (James) of Memphis, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Renea Janes of Campbellsville; four brothers; one sister; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has been chosen and a memorial service will be at noon Wednesday at the Pine Grove Church in Casey County with Brother Jeff Edwards officiating. The family will visit with friends after the service at the church.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville St., Columbia, KY 42728, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations to either the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association would be appreciated, in care of the funeral home.
