James Leroy Rhodes, 84, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
He was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Cleveland, Miss., to the late Jack Rhodes and M. Ester (Fletcher) Gant. He married the late Venita Mae (Berry) Rhodes on Aug. 10, 1951. She preceded in death Oct. 3, 2006.
Survivors include children, Ronnie Leroy Rhodes of Columbia, Ky., and Robert Dale (Sherry) Rhodes of Palm Bay, Fla.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Ernest (Ruth) Gant of Taylorsville.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Darline Rhodes, and brothers, Norman E. and Bobby Rhodes.
He was a member of the Victory Fellowship of God of Shelbyville and was a retired fabricator for Conair. He enjoyed attending church, gospel singing, concerts and auctions.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Rev. Mark Joplin will conduct a funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
