Dorothy M. Marien, 100, Greenwood, passed away March 16, 2014.
She was born in Indianapolis on Oct. 16, 1913, to Theodore and Anna Katherine Adolay and was the first child baptized in St. Mary Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
Dorothy was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and had worked for the William H. Block Department Store. She married Elmer Peter Marien on June 16, 1936, in St. Roch Church. He passed away on June 13, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Leonard Adolay.
Dorothy is survived by her children, John (Connie) of Greenwood, Richard (Ruth) of Nineveh, Edward (Jan) of Lodi, WI, Kathy Schmidt (Ed) of Glendale, AZ; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; cousin, Lucille Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Barnabas Catholic Church where she was a charter member. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home where prayers will be said on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Indianapolis.
