William Keith ‘Bill’ Smithey

Mr. William Keith “Bill” Smithey passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 85. He was a resident of Indianapolis.

He was born March 25, 1928, to the late Archibald and Charlotte Smithey. He grew up in Greenwood and left a sales career to retire to farming in Campbellsburg.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Deloris M. Smithey; two daughters, Donna (Philip) Harris and Suzie (John) Williams; grandchildren, Max Williams, Jill Haskin, and Matthew and Scott Harris; and six great-grandchildren, Cassidy and Ben Williams, and Grace, Ryan, Hunter and Kate Haskin.

Bill was a charming, witty and endearing man who loved his family, his friends, his farm, his animals, his golf … Indiana, Montana, Hawaii … and sunshine.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
